These Terms of Use apply to los-angeles.com and every page, tool and service on it (the “site”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

los-angeles.com is an independent information service operated by Digitali, an independent web publisher registered in Israel (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at info@los-angeles.com.

The site offers general information about City of Los Angeles rules and self-serve tools that apply those rules to the details you enter. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer who knows your situation.

Using the site, running a tool or contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship or any other professional relationship. A tool result is an estimate based on the information you enter and the records available to us. Before you act on one, especially in a dispute or before a deadline, confirm it with the agency responsible, such as the Los Angeles Housing Department, or with a lawyer.

The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD), the County of Los Angeles or any other government agency. Nothing on it is an official determination, and no tool result binds any agency, landlord, tenant or court.

Many answers on the site rest on records published by others, including LAHD's rent stabilization list, the Los Angeles County Assessor's parcel records, and the City of Los Angeles address and boundary data from the city's GIS services. We do not control those records. They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and we cannot guarantee them.

The site links to websites run by others, including government agencies. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

Some placements on the site are paid. Every paid placement is labeled “Sponsored”. Sponsors never appear inside a tool's result, and payment never changes what a tool calculates or what a guide says. A sponsored placement is not a recommendation, and we are not responsible for the products or services of any advertiser.

You may use the site for your own lawful, personal or professional purposes. You agree not to:

Use the site in a way that breaks the law or infringes anybody's rights; send automated requests at a volume that burdens the site or its data sources, or scrape or copy the site or its data in bulk; try to get around a security or access control, or probe, scan or test the site's vulnerability without our written permission; interfere with the site's operation, or introduce malicious code; or submit false, misleading or abusive information through a form.

We may limit or block access to anyone who does, without notice.

The text, tools, design and code of the site belong to Digitali or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may view, print and share pages and tool results for your own use, including handing a printed result to a landlord, tenant, mediator or hearing officer. You may not republish, sell or reproduce the site or a substantial part of it without our written permission.

Public records shown on the site remain subject to the terms of the agency that publishes them.

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the site or a tool result is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, or that the site will be available or free of errors. Rules change by council action and court decision, and records change when agencies update them.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Digitali and the people who work on the site are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site, its tools or its information, including indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages and any lost money, rent, deposit or opportunity. Where the law does not allow a limitation this broad, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use the site and the choices you have. It is part of these terms.

We may update these terms as the site changes. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law requires otherwise.
